About Pitkin County Jail
Pitkin County Jail is a division of the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office. The county jail page says the jail opened in January 1984 and was the first direct-supervision jail of its size in the country at that time. It replaced an old cage in the courthouse basement. Direct supervision means staff and inmates interact in a more open housing model, and the county page says inmates are allowed out of cells from 8 a.m. until lockdown at 11:00 p.m.

Municipal Arrests and Pitkin Jail
